Earthbase is informed by time spent working at NASA's Habitability Design Center. Molly Harwood and I applied design standards conventionally reserved for space habitats to a series of urban homes. As city populations grow over the next fifty years, private quarters will become increasingly confined. Earthbase artifacts draw aesthetic and structural inspiration from NASA's gossamer structures (objects made from rigid skeletons and flexible skins to cut down on weight and size).
